Overview
FMGE is the short form of Foreign Medical Graduate Examination. The FMGE exam is a licensing exam for Indian citizens or overseas citizens of India who have completed their primary medical education from an institution outside India and want to make their career in India. After its launch in 2002, passing it is compulsory for candidates with foreign medical degrees. However, candidates who passed their medical education before 15 March 2002 need not to pass this exam to start their medical practice in India. The National Board of Examinations (NBE) conducts this licensing exam twice a year, June and December.
Registration
The registration for FMGE exam starts just after the announcements of exam dates from the National Board of Examinations. Eligibility Criteria

- An NRI or an overseas studying candidate with a primary medical educational degree/program like MBBS is eligible for this exam.
- Documents of the primary medical educational qualifications.
- Final year students with expected results on or before April 2024 are also eligible.

Exam Pattern
The National Board of Examinations conducts the FMGE exam on behalf of the National Medical Commission (NMC) every year. The exam is conducted in two sittings – Part A and part B – and each sitting lasts for 150 minutes or 2.30 hours. It is a computer-based exam for 300 marks and contains 300 objective questions. Candidates receive 1 mark for each correct answer. And there is no negative marking for a wrong answer. To qualify the exam, candidates like you need to get at least 150 marks out of 300.
