Overview
MCAT stands for the Medical College Admission Test, which has been conducted by the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) since 1928. It is a computer-based standardised entrance exam for aspiring medical students willing to pursue an MD or DO course from medical colleges/universities in the United States of America, Canada, Australia, and 16 other countries. Around 85 000 students appear at this medical entrance exam each year. The exam tests aspiring medical students on the knowledge and skills required for having success at a medical college or medical practice.
Registration
The MCAT exam is conducted more than 25 times a year. As an aspiring candidate, you need to register yourself at the official website, https://mcat.aamc.org/mrs/. You need to follow the onscreen instructions to complete your registration and choose a date for the test.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates need to refer to the official website to know the eligibility criteria for NEET-UG in detail. Usually, the criteria is as follows:
- Evidence for the individual personal and intellectual credentials
- Schooling or undergraduate study in biological and physical sciences
- One year supplement education in Canadian or American college/university
- Fluency in English
Exam Pattern
The MCAT exam lasts for 375 minutes. Its question papers contain 50 to 60 questions from subjects like biology, physics, reasoning, chemistry, and critical analysis. Candidates have to score more than 500 points to secure a seat in one of the medical colleges in 19 participating countries.
