Overview

NEET UG, NEET-UG, or the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate is a prominent entrance exam for students willing to become doctors. Qualifying in this exam enables students to take admissions in MBBS, BDS, and similar Ayush (Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy) courses in public and private institutions in India. The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts this national level medical entrance exam.

NEET UG exam tests candidates/students on subjects at their 12th level schooling. The covered subjects are physics, chemistry, and biology. Its format includes MCQs (multiple choice questions) in or around 14 Indian languages. The NEET-UG exam lasts for 3 hours and 20 minutes. It contains questions from physics, chemistry, and biology. As per the exam pattern, the question paper has two sections – A and B. Frequently Asked Questions

What chapters do the NEET curriculum have and what chapters are important to study?

The NEET curriculum has around 97 chapters in all three science subjects – physics, chemistry, and biology. As a candidate of the NEET UG, you need to study all chapters well. Having a good grasp of the NEET syllabus/curriculum will help you score higher.  



What is the scoring system for the NEET UG 2024?

The scoring system is the same as last year. You will get 4 points for a correct answer and one negative point for an incorrect answer. And you will get nothing if you do not give any response to a question or leave it unanswered. 



Can I upload my photo with my name, a date, and a white background?

Uploading a photo with the white background, candidate name, and date was compulsory. As per the latest announcements, you can upload your passport-size photo without a white background,  your name, and date.   

What is the NEET UG application fee?

As a general category student, you need to pay INR 1600. You need to pay only INR 1500 as the NEET UG application fee if you are a candidate from OBC or general-EWS. For an SC, ST, and transgender candidate, the application fee is only Rs 900. As an NRI or foreign candidate, you need to pay INR 8 500. GST is also applicable for all category students. 



Can I enrol myself for the NEET UG if I studied biology as an additional subject at my 10+2 level schooling?

Yes, you can appear at the NEET UG exam with biology or biotechnology as an additional subject at your 12th exam.  



How many attempts do I make for the NEET UG exam?

Earlier, a candidate took the NEET UG three times. At present, there is no limit on the number of attempts for the NEET UG. You can sit in this exam several times as per your wish. 

I have an age gap between my study at 11 and 12 grades. Can I still take the NEET UG?

Yes, you can take this entrance exam if you have a gap of one year in your 12th grade study.
